Metamate™ is a playful optional extension of pedagogical chess pieces. It's two pieces called Metas, trains calculation and creativity faculties of players in games where all learned theory become useless.
In Greek, “meta” means “beyond” or “along with.”
Metamate™ embodies both—expanding beyond chess while staying true to its essence.

Rules in a nutshell
The Metas can optionally replace a Knight, a Bishop, a Rook or a Queen before the opening.
They can copy abilities of surrounding pieces, before and after they moves, making their extrinsic capabilities, their very own intrinsic abilities. Isolated, they become dead as a rock.
Metas can also evolve, gaining strength each time they take an enemy piece.
Tester clubs
Test sessions are often held to push the boundaries of Metamate™ and gather feedback to evolve Metas in the best way possible, thank you all for your commitment.
I'm thinking about playing shots I never thought I'd play.

Oh yeah, my brain's a mess

The strength of Metamate is that it puts two players on the same level, or almost, by cancelling out the theory, you can see the player's real talent, not what they've memorised; it was the first time in a long time that I'd thought about this point during the opening.
