RULES
Metas can copy abilities of surrounding pieces before and after they moves, making extrinsic capabilities their very own intrinsic abilities. Isolated, they become dead as a rock.
FORMATION
Unique phase of the game happening before the white opening, allowing players to introduce or not their Meta.
Shake hands – remove a piece – place the Meta – start the clock – open the game.
THE METAS
Assembling elements, four Metas can be composed replacing the corresponding eliminated piece.
Meta-Bishop
The base and its body are assembled as they are inside the box.
The Meta-Bishop replace a Bishop during the formation phase.
Can copy diagonal 4 direct positions of allies pieces and pawns.
Meta-Knight
The base and its body are assembled 45° as they are inside the box.
The Meta-Knight replace a Knight during the formation phase.
Can copy orthogonal 4 direct positions of allies pieces and pawns.
Meta-Rook
The piece is flipped up side down from either straight and diagonal position
The Meta-Rook replace a Rook during the formation phase.
Can copy diagonal and orthogonal 8 direct positions of allies pieces and pawns.
Meta-Queen
The piece if freed from its bases and is freely placed on chess board square.
The Meta-Queen replace the Queen during the formation phase.
Can copy diagonal and orthogonal 8 direct positions of allies and enemies pieces and pawns.
EVOLUTION
Metas evolve when taking opponent pieces or pawns. Meta Knight and Bishop can evolve into a Meta-Rook and by taking again another piece, a Meta-Queen. When a Meta takes another, it moves directly to Meta-Queen.
Identity Vs. Abilities
Check on Meta
A Meta copies the abilities of a piece, not its identity. A Meta copying the King's abilities cannot therefore be put in check. A king cannot be put in check via a Meta.
